Alcohol Use Screening (AUDIT-C)

This brief questionnaire helps screen for patterns of alcohol use over the past 12 months. It is not a diagnostic test.

Basic details (for accurate interpretation)


1. How often did you have a drink containing alcohol in the past year?

2. On days when you drank alcohol, how many drinks did you typically have?

One standard drink equals approximately:
• 330 ml beer (one bottle/can)
• 150 ml wine (one glass)
• 45 ml spirits (one peg – whisky, rum, vodka, etc.)

3. How often did you have 6 or more drinks (men) or 4 or more drinks (women / age ≥65) on one occasion?
